  • A few journals are devoted to publishing review articles and are purposefully not an outlet for the publication of primary data. Review articles can take a few forms, such as:
  1. new integrative theories that propose a new line of research, sometimes accompanied by supporting data, and
  2. reviewing or summarizing an existing line of research, sometimes summarizing a program of research developed mainly by the author(s) of the review article.
  • Advances in Experimental Social Psychology (AESP, from Elsevier) is the highest impact factor journal in Social/Personality psychology. The review articles published in AESP are mainly reviewing or summarizing an existing line of research, and routinely involve summarizing a program of research developed mainly by the author(s) of the review article. The review articles also routinely concern topics of the highest significance or importance to the field.
  • Personality and Social Psychology Review (PSPR, from SPSP) is another quality outlet for review articles in Social/Personality psychology and also publishes articles reviewing or summarizing an existing line of research. Unlike AESP, review articles in PSPR are not always concerned with summarizing a program of research developed mainly by the author(s) of the review article, and are also concerned with new integrative theories that propose a new line of research, sometimes accompanied by supporting data.
  • Another place to publish review/theory papers is the broader multidisciplinary journals discussed below.
