I'm a third-year graduate student in the social psychology program at Florida State University. When I'm not conducting research, I like to travel to new places, take pictures of stuff, play sports, write things, read things other people have written, and eat food that I or other people have cooked.

With whom do I work?

My academic advisors are Dr. Roy F. Baumeister and Dr. Dianne M. Tice.

What do I research?

I have a broad interest in the interaction between conscious and nonconscious processes. In recent years, the evidence has been mounting in favor of the view that many of our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are driven by nonconscious, automatic processes. My research is aimed at addressing some of the questions that follow from this recent trend in the literature: What is conscious thought used for? How do nonconscious processes influence the way we think? How do conscious thoughts influence our emotions and the decisions we make? I am currently addressing these questions through the study of self-control, motivation, goal conflict, and decision making.
